Apologia: The Fullness of Christian Truth

``Where the Bishop is, there let the multitude of believers be;
even as where Jesus is, there is the Catholic Church'' Ignatius of Antioch, 1st c. A.D

Canon of the Bible

In parentheses are alternate names for the Book in question. Books marked by a black square are called "deuterocanonical" by the Catholic Church and "apocryphal" by non-Catholic Christians (these are the Books often removed completely from Protestant Bibles).

Note that Catholics and Protestants number the Psalms differently. Traditional Catholic Bibles, including the Vulgate (which is in Latin and is the "official Catholic Bible") and the Douay-Rheims (the official English language version of Scripture for Catholics) follow the older numbering of the Septuagint. Protestants and, sadly, some post-concilar Catholic translations, follow the numbering used by 6th -10th c. (A.D.) Jewish rabbis. The chart below compares those two numbering systems:

Catholic Protestant
1-8 1-8
9 9-10
10-112 11-113
113 114-115
114 116:1-9

146 147:1-11
